In a previous post I had discussed some recent health issues leading me to be more conscious about what I buy and where I buy items from. My family has recently made a commitment to no longer purchasing fast fashion from retailers who crank out goods at questionable costs to the environment, those making clothes, and even the purchasers. Instead, my family is constantly on the hunt for companies making quality clothing whose goal is to help reduce the damage to the environment and enrich the lives of all the people involved in the making of clothing.
One such company is PACT Organic and they were so gracious to send my a large box of items to try for myself! PACT uses organic cotton for their products because it uses 71% less water and 62% less energy than conventional cotton. Also, the farmers who grow organic cotton are kept safer because they are not exposed to toxic chemicals in their fields or water. These farmers are better able to provide for their families because they are able to grow more than just one crop. PACT adds that, ” Our organic cotton is certified by The Global Organic Textile Standard. One of the key pillars of GOTS is the protection of workers’ rights. Employment is freely chosen, working conditions are safe and hygienic, living wages are paid, no discrimination is practiced, and no child labor is used. “
My favorite piece is the jacket. I love soft jackets and this jacket is perfectly soft and light for when it is just a little cool outside. The leggings have a higher waist than what I prefer but are otherwise very comfy. All of the underwear was on par with brands I have purchased in the past when it came to fit and feel— only now I know that these choices are much better for the myself, the people who make them, and the environment.
